David Rogers Wins Reach Take ‘Em to School Poker Tournament

Chief executive officer of JD Capital Management LLC, David Rogers, was victorious this morning in the Reach Take ‘Em to School Poker Tournament.

This year’s event was held at Gotham Hall in Manhattan. The tournament supports the cause to raise money to assist high-school students with preparation for Advanced Placement exams. According to Reach Executive Director, Kathrine Mott, approximately 3,000 students benefited from the event and attended training workshops in 2011.

Rogers took the top spot over the runner up in the tournament, Greenlight Capital Inc. analyst, David Tepperman, with a pair of 5’s to his king ten. As his prize for winning the tournament, Rogers took a seat at the World Series of Poker 2013.

‘At the final table I came in with the second-lowest chip stack. I did have a couple of lucky hands’, said Rogers.

Tepperman remained in the game until the end unlike his boss, Greenlight CEO David Einhorn. As his prize, Tepperman will be spending five nights in a property on Lamu, which is an island just off the Kenyan coast.

‘My boss is good at poker, so I got rolling with it,’ Tepperman said.

Coming in third was Adam Oestreich, of Merrill Lynch who received his invite to the event from one of his clients, Pershing Square Capital Management LP. He also has chosen a fabulous prize which consists of two nights at Caesars Atlantic City.
